Established in 1830, Scott & Co Ltd is one of Mauritius’ oldest commercial enterprises. To quote Mauritius Illustrated published in 1914 “History records that in former times the Book of Proverbs used to be published in separate form in Scotland and carried in the pockets of the merchants there. Whether or not the wise precepts of that inestimable compilation should be considered among the causes instrumental in the formation of the keen business acumen ascribed to the Scot, it cannot be denied that the men from northern Britain are to be found occupying many of the foremost positions in the commercial centres of the Empire, as well as in remote parts of the earth where civilisation has scarcely penetrated. Mauritius is not lacking in examples in Scottish enterprise and ability, and prominent amongst these is the business of Messrs. Scott & Co. - a business owned and managed by men born and bred in the land of the thistle and the heather. It was founded so far back as 1830 by two Scotsmen, Messrs. Scott and Bell, who have long passed away. The business has outlived nearly all its early contemporaries. Firmly established and ably directed it has withstood many seasons of commercial depression, the development of new rivals, and the growth of competition; and after its long existence it is to-day greater and more flourishing than ever.” Since this was written, Scott has continued to evolve, continuously adapting as the business environment in Mauritius and internationally has changed. By nurturing strong relationships with its principals worldwide, Scott has created a strong network of suppliers and partners, ensuring the company delivers the highest quality brands to its customers.

In 2007, Scott underwent a major transformation. The present organisation structure was put in place and Copharma one of Mauritius’ leading importers and distributors of pharmaceutical products and health care products was acquired and rebranded as Scott Health.
